Offline Meeting of the BRP Community: Key Discussions and Insights
The Big Recovery Portal (BRP) continues to work on increasing the transparency of Ukraine’s recovery. As part of the "The Recovery Spending Watchdog" project, an offline meeting was held with grantees and partners, including the Center for Economic Strategy, the Institute for Economic Research, and the NGO "Technologies of Progress."
The main goal of the meeting was to summarize the monitoring results, discuss portal updates, outline the next steps in collaboration between civil society organizations and experts, meet colleagues in person, and address questions from NGO representatives.
Key topics of the meeting:
- BRP Updates
Maksym Nefyodov, co-founder of the NGO "Technologies of Progress" and head of the BRP project, presented the plans for further development, including:
- A new data format – instead of a list of objects, the portal will introduce projects, which can include multiple objects or different stages of work within a single object (e.g., separate projects for elevator repairs or accessibility improvements).
- Collaboration with DREAM – the portal aims to receive more detailed data on specific objects, helping NGOs enhance their monitoring efforts.
- A focus on funding sources – BRP plans to highlight the origin and allocation of funds more actively.
- Results of Public Monitoring
Oleksandra Betliy, senior research fellow and project manager at the Institute for Economic Research, presented the interim monitoring results:
- Grant competitions for monitoring reconstruction and procurement.
- Compliance checks for accessibility and energy efficiency standards.
- General conclusions on the reconstruction process.
Grantees also shared their results. A big thank you to the Territorial Development Agency, Women in Ukraine NGO, Narodnyi Zakhyst NGO, Anti-Corruption NGO, Barrier-Free Ternopil NGO, and Brave Irpin NGO for your contributions to the transparency and efficiency of the reconstruction process!
- Public Investment Management Reform
Additionally, Viktor Nestulia, Head of the DREAM Project Office, presented plans for the reform of public investment management.
Feedback & Next Steps
One of the key aspects of the meeting was gathering feedback from civil society organizations. BRP aims to make the monitoring process even more user-friendly and effective, so the comments and suggestions from grantees are crucial for future portal updates.
Conclusions & Acknowledgments
During the event, civil society organizations received TOP Grantee certificates from BRP, along with initiative-branded t-shirts as a token of appreciation.
Thank you to all participants for your dedication and hard work! Together, we continue to make the reconstruction process more transparent.
The meeting was organized by the NGO "Technologies of Progress" as part of the "The Recovery Spending Watchdog" project, funded by the European Union.
